Headlight Restoration

How much does headlight restoration cost in Southeast Idaho? +
Headlight restoration at IdahoGlow starts at $89. The price varies slightly depending on the size and condition of the lenses — larger trucks and SUVs may be on the higher end. Either way, it's a fraction of the $400–$800 you'd spend replacing the whole headlight assembly. Book your headlight restoration online or call (208) 540-2405.
How long does headlight restoration last? +
A professionally restored headlight, when sealed with UV-resistant coating, typically lasts 2–3 years before showing minor surface oxidation again — comparable to a brand-new housing. DIY kits from the auto parts store usually last 6 months or less. The key is the UV sealant applied at the end of the process, which is included in our service. See our full headlight restoration guide for details.
What causes headlights to become foggy or yellow? +
Headlights go foggy primarily from UV exposure — sunlight breaks down the outer plastic layer over years. Road salt, brake dust, and acid rain accelerate it. Idaho's winter roads are especially hard on headlights. The hazing is both cosmetic (surface oxidation) and structural (UV damage to the plastic), which is why compound and wet sanding are needed, not just a wipe-down.

Interior Detailing

What's included in an interior car detailing service? +
Our Express Interior ($99–$150) includes a full vacuum, dashboard and console wipe-down, leather conditioning, window cleaning, and odor treatment. Our Executive Interior ($250–$400) goes deeper: steam cleaning, carpet shampoo, leather conditioning, headliner cleaning, stain removal, and pet hair removal — everything included. Book online or view full pricing.
Can you remove pet hair from car seats? +
Yes — pet hair removal is included in our Executive Interior detail ($250). For Express Interior, it's a +$40 add-on. We use a combination of brushes, rubber squeegees, and compressed air to lift embedded fur from fabric and leather seats, floor mats, and cargo areas. Heavy shedding situations may require extra time, but we always quote upfront.
Can you remove stains from car carpets and upholstery? +
For light to moderate stains, steam cleaning and carpet shampooing do a great job — this is included in our Executive Interior detail. For deep-set or set-in stains, we use a targeted stain-removal add-on (+$40). The result depends on the stain's age and type. Coffee, mud, and pet accidents all respond well. We assess before we quote, so you know what to expect.
How long does a full interior detail take? +
Express Interior takes about 1–1.5 hours. Executive Interior takes 3–5 hours depending on the vehicle's size and condition. We bring everything to your location — driveway, office parking lot, wherever you park — and work while you go about your day.

Exterior Detailing

What is the difference between wax and ceramic coating? +
Wax is a natural or synthetic sealant that sits on the paint surface and lasts 1–3 months. It adds warmth and gloss but wears off quickly, especially in Idaho winters. Ceramic coating bonds to the paint at a molecular level, creating a harder, longer-lasting barrier — typically 6 months to 2 years depending on the product. Our Premium Exterior Detail uses ceramic-grade sealant for long-term protection. See our exterior detail options.
Hand wash vs. machine (touchless) wash — which is better? +
Hand wash is significantly better for your car's finish. Touchless car washes use high-pressure nozzles and acidic chemicals that strip wax and can leave micro-scratches over time. Our two-bucket hand wash method uses pH-neutral soap, soft microfiber mitts, and separate rinse buckets to avoid dragging grit back across the paint. Better results, safer for your car.
How often should I get my car detailed? +
For most drivers in Southeast Idaho, an express interior detail every 3–4 months and an exterior maintenance detail every 4–6 months keeps the car in good shape. If you park outside year-round or do a lot of gravel driving, every 3 months is better. Idaho winters (road salt, slush, freeze-thaw) take a real toll on exterior surfaces — don't skip the spring detail.

Boat & RV Detailing

Do you detail boats and RVs at the marina? +
Yes — we come to your location, which can include Island Park reservoir, American Falls marina, or your private dock. We handle boats, RVs, campers, and trailers. The key difference from car detailing is gel coat restoration — the fiberglass material used on boat hulls. Gel coat oxidizes from sun and water exposure, and we use specific compounds to restore it without damaging the surface. See our boat & RV detailing page for pricing.
What's different about detailing a boat vs. a car? +
Boats use gel coat (fiberglass) instead of automotive paint, and it's designed to get wet — so proper marine compounds and wax/sealant are different from car products. Boats also accumulate waterline buildup, zebra mussel residue, and sun-faded gel coat that cars don't get. Interior is similar (upholstery, carpets) but marine upholstery needs mildew-resistant treatments. See our dedicated boat & RV service page.
When should I get my boat or RV detailed for the season? +
For Idaho lakes, the sweet spot is mid-to-late April — get the boat detailed before you put it in the water for the first time. It removes winter storage grime, repairs UV damage from the previous season, and applies fresh protection before the hard summer sun hits. For RVs, spring (April–May) before road trip season works well. We also offer fall prep detailing to protect your boat over winter storage.
